Why?
The Midwest got a massive jolt in the Summer of 99’. Two suburban Michigan teenagers rolled past each other at Woodward Skate Camp in Pennsylvania, they recognized one another as “the other freshman that I think skates” turns out they were right. Attack Plans were eminent. Back in the bottom right part of the mitten sometime during the fall their respective gangs joined forces under a common flag; stay out way after dark and make a scene, on or off their rolling devices. In the winter it was the same, local snow surfing jib sessions, backyard terrain parks in minimal square footage and a fleet of point and shoot film and photo equipment following every move. Most of our awkward youth in the Big Mitten is documented on 35mm, hi-8 or vhs-c somewhere in the vault. Over the years and through the woods what was originally called the Constant Crew built a metaphorical cabin in the metaphorical forest and set up shop as a media group, party wrecking crew, skate gang and wholesome bunch of demented artists.
After several semesters of college, dozens of road trips, an incalculable amount of PBR and many many destroyed home furnishings the mentality of restless youth has left Eastern Standard time. The spirit of art school and living room mini ramps has spread west in hopes of steeper pastures with deeper snow. An all fun all the time while still working gang of unruly nice guys are going to change the map a bit and stake a home in another section of the continent.
Since 99’ the cameras got nicer, the computers got more expensive, the jobs paid more, the traveling continued, the drinking never slowed down, the boards stayed under our feet the nights never ended earlier nor did the half cocked ideas cease to develop.
So, a bunch of Midwest ex-patriots decided to pack up their gear and head further west to Denver to be near the mountains. This site is dedicated to documenting the Michigan annexation of Colorado. Videos, photos, & words
Welcome to New Michigan.
